Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s phone number has been found in the leaked data of 533 million FB users and now a security researcher has posted Zuckerberg’s leaked phone number which confirmed the Facebook CEO uses the Signal app. “In another turn of events, Mark Zuckerberg also respects his own privacy, by using a chat app that has end-to-end encryption and isn’t owned by @facebook. This is the number associated with his account from the recent Facebook leak,” security expert Dave Walker posted on Twitter with a screenshot of Zuckerberg’s leaked phone number which said, “Mark Zuckerberg is on Signal.”

According to the security researcher, not only his phone number but other personal details like location, marriage details, birth date, and Facebook user ID was also leaked. Facebook’s co-founders Chris Hughes and Dustin Moskovitz were also among the affected users whose data was leaked in the Facebook breach.

For those who are unaware, the personal information of more than 533 million (53.3 crores) Facebook users from 106 countries was leaked online recently. This information includes phone numbers, full names, locations, birth dates, Facebook IDs, bio’s, and in some cases, email addresses – as discovered by cybersecurity researcher Alon Gal.

“All 533,000,000 Facebook records were just leaked for free. This means that if you have a Facebook account, it is extremely likely the phone number used for the account was leaked. I have yet to see Facebook acknowledging this absolute negligence of your data. Earlier, phone numbers of 533 million users were sold via a bot on encrypted messaging platform Telegram, which came from a Facebook vulnerability that was patched by the social network in 2019,” Gal said in a tweet.

However, Facebook stated that the vulnerability was detected in 2019 that let phone numbers of millions of users be abraded from the platform’s servers, but according to Gal, despite the flaw being patched, it could provide relevant information to cybercriminals.

Last year in December, some reports surfaced that a bug exposed the personal information like email addresses and birthdays of Instagram users. Saugat Pokharel, an experienced bug hunter from Nepal, discovered the bug. The attack used Facebook’s Business Suite tool, available to any Facebook business account.
